The conference room is the shop window of the modern business. It’s where you negotiate, present, make deals and impress. Don’t let your conference chairs let you down. Make a positive first impression on guests and delegates and they won’t forget you in a hurry.
How many chairs do you need?
Plan your purchase of conference chairs carefully. The obvious place to start is with the quantity that you will require and for this you will need to get a conference table installed first. Measure out how many chairs you could fit comfortably around it bearing in mind that people need to be able to get in and out without hitting the person next to them. As a general rule of thumb, a 20-foot-wide conference table cold normally seat 20 people.
Extra chairs are also very useful if there is sufficient space. They are placed against the walls of the room and can be dragged forward if needed or can be used by observers who are not actually taking part in the meeting. Think of it as ‘over flow’ seating. Be careful not to cram the space because this gives a cluttered feel. You will need at least 3 feet of walkway space around the conference table to allow for comfortable and safe movement.
Choose your conference chairs to impress
Conference chairs are a lot less complicated than office chairs; you don’t want your visitors/delegates fiddling with knobs and levers instead of listening to you! They are generally used for a shorter period of time but ergonomics should still be a consideration and investing in quality products is always desirable. Some will have a height adjustment which may be useful. Your choice will, however, be largely centred on size (think of your space and who will be sitting in them), fabric and upholstery.
Your fabric options for conference chairs would be:
- The flexible fabric option. If you want the ultimate choice in colour and design then fabric is for you. It is a woven material that is available in an almost infinite range of colours and patterns. If you are creating a very specific look then this is the best choice for you.
- Classic real leather style. Nothing says quality quite like leather, but which type of leather will you get? It could be full grain or top grain. If you go for a full grain product it will show its grain and natural imperfections. However, if you want the imperfections removed and a more polished appearance, you will need to choose top grain.
- Beauty on a budget. If you want the look of real leather but can’t afford the price tag you could consider faux leather or vinyl chairs. These are manmade fabrics that mimic real leather. Manufactured from polyurethane (PU) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) they will give the look you want at a price you can afford.
