When working on a particular tricky spreadsheet do you ever think if only you were listening to the Black Eyed Peas Boom Boom Pow you would get the whole thing done quicker. Do you find your typing speed increase to the beat of your favourite dance track?
The majority of offices don’t allow music to be played, which is understandable considering someone’s favourite track may be another’s most hated. However, a recent survey from MusicWorks asked 2000 people in offices about how music affected their work. Over seventy percent said they preferred music at work and that they felt more productive while nearly 85% said it improves morale.
Unfortunately, it’s one thing saying it and another thing doing it. The research didn’t actually find out if listening to music would actually improved productivity. And if you do decide to let your workforce listen to music, remember the PRS for Music will want you to pay for the privilege even if is just the radio.
